Halloween

is ruined!

Cricket couldn’t believe it. They

were trapped inside their house on

Halloween. “There’s no escape,”

Cricket said. “No trick-or-treating!”

Bill had an idea how the kids could still

trick-or-treat while stuck at the house.

They could trick-or-treat . . . indoors!

Cricket wasn’t so sure about the idea,

but Bill wanted to give it a try.

Cricket didn’t know how this was supposed

to work. From behind one of the closed

bedroom doors in the hallway, Bill

whispered, “Ya gotta knock on the door.”

Cricket and Remy knocked on the door. Bill,

dressed in a makeshift costume, answered

and said, “Hellooo! I’m an old lady!” He

didn’t have any candy, so he gave each of the

kids—and Vasquez—a tiny porcelain horse.

In that moment, Cricket realized that indoor trick-or-treating was no

substitute for the real thing.
